A single-use test for occult bleeding, also known as FOB test (fecal occult blood test), presented in the form of a cassette, is used to identify bleeding inside the digestive tract. The ability of the test to detect even tiny amounts of blood in stool, invisible to the naked eye, is crucial. Its main purpose is the early detection of serious stomach and intestinal diseases even before they fully develop.

Test procedure: A stool sample is collected using a special stick and transferred to a container containing a salt solution. After mixing a few drops of the sample, they are dropped into the designated window on the test cassette. The test result can be evaluated after 10 minutes from performing the test. Reading the result requires observing the control line and, if necessary, the test line depending on the presence or absence of hemoglobin in the sample. Occult bleeding: Bleeding can be the first clinical manifestation of a malignant tumor, stomach or colorectal cancer, or ulcer disease. Approximately 95% of patients with colorectal cancer achieve a positive result in occult bleeding tests. Between 50% and 80% of patients with ulcer disease may have a positive result from the same test. Early detection of fecal occult bleeding is crucial for preserving life and facilitates treatment in the early stages of the disease.

Colorectal cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, is one of the most common malignant diseases in both men and women. It is recommended to undergo the test at least once a year, ideally under the supervision of a doctor. Warning: Even with high sensitivity FOB tests, there may be a false negative result. Bleeding may be irregular or unevenly distributed in the stool, which may cause the test not to detect the presence of blood on the first try (further information can be found in the package leaflet).
